The rooms are small, very snug for a family. The bathrooms even tinier! The shower cubicle is so small, it's impossible to shower without banging your arms/head as you try to wash. The water changes to scalding hot and freezing cold without warning. The pillows are very thin - like paper and soft so you struggle to get a decent night's sleep. The tea and coffee are not replenished daily, or at all, even when asked for. There are only tiny paper cups for you to make tea or coffee in, if of course you actually have anything to make. On arrival there is just one 500ml bottle of mineral water per room! This was never replenished either. Every day between at least 5pm to 9pm there are countless intermittent power cuts. This knocks out everything - lights and air conditioning. We think this place should install solar panels which would give a steady supply of electricity. The Hotel staff never informed us about these power cuts – we were informed by some other American hotel guests. The main restaurant was the primary issue for us during our trip. Tables were dirty (not wiped clean) and not laid up. When people leave tables, staff clear an item or two from several dirty tables at a time, without actually clearing any of them completely, so the tables remain dirty and unavailable for other guests. This happens across multiple (6 or more) at a time in each section of the restaurant. This appear to be a targeted approach so that the tables could not be re-used, and was observed happening on a daily basis. The tables do not have cutlery, napkins or glasses set ready for mealtimes. The restaurant is boiling hot, as the air conditioning is rarely on, and the plastic sides to the restaurant are open. It makes for a very unpleasant dining experience in the heat. It is 'waiter service' for drinks - but you will wait ages for anyone to come to take your drinks order. This means you also can't leave the table for food until they've been, and that mean very hungry children. The drinking water is lukewarm and from a filtered water tap, which is not at all refreshing or pleasant in the high temperatures. This restaurant would be much more efficient if people could get their own drinks. On our second night, there were no larger tables available (apart from the ones labelled as reserved for staff), so we attempted to move two neighbouring tables together. A waitress (Collette) ran over to us shouting. We were not permitted to sit together - she kept shouting that we must sit separately. This was very embarrassing, everyone in the restaurant turned to watch what was happening. She continued to shout at us, even when we explained we wanted a family dinner together and have young children. We were so embarrassed by her rudeness and her shouting that we all scattered. The children were upset. Subsequently she then moved the tables together for us to sit together anyway. This waitress, Collette, continued to be very rude to us throughout our stay. She wouldn't take our drinks order until we had asked several other staff for assistance and they had asked her to help us. One evening we waited over 20 minutes. I asked another waiter for water and he smirked and said 'ask Collette'. He walked away laughing but then turned back to look and laugh again. It really felt they were doing it on purpose. We did not react to this dreadful behaviour for fear of it getting even worse. The staff name badges are printed very small but we think the male waiter involved was called Giovanni. The pair of them acted like school playground bullies. It was incredibly unpleasant to experience and we were shocked at the behaviour, given we are paying guests. This experience ruined the dining experience for us as we dreaded the treatment we would have to endure every meal time. As we were staying for 10 days, it was a long time to endure it. The key thing missing was hospitality, which should surely be exactly what the hotel staff should be delivering. our last evening meal was utterly dreadful. Staff refused to help us find a table on arrival, an elder waiter literally shrugging his shoulders at us and walked away. When we found a table, it was filthy. Collette walked around us multiple times, ignoring us, she didn't attempt to clean the table or provide cutlery, napkins and glasses. She started to clear an empty table next to us, whilst totally ignoring the filthy table we were at. Eventually Giovanni sent another waitress over to clean the table and our children had to all get up with their plates, as they couldn't wait any longer to eat. When the table was finally clean, we endured yet more waiting to get drinks. My drink arrived in a dirty, stained glass, which exactly highlights the problems with this place - dirty, no attention to detail and dreadful customer service. We were also only given six water glasses for eight people! I ended up having to find a mug to use instead. The food in the main restaurant was often limited in choice, no specific options for children and popular items like pineapple and watermelon, always running out. There was no 'show cooking' and the pizzas were dreadful. They were huge, thick pie-type pizzas. None of us, including the children liked these lumps of dough. Certainly not the authentic Italian food we had come for. It must also be said that there is a distinct lack of staff working in most areas of the hotel. The general areas of the hotel need to have a really good clean. The outside terrace patio areas to the rooms are filthy dirty and never mopped. All tables at the bars, restaurants and poolside parasol tables are absolutely filthy and never cleaned. I cleaned ours myself with our antibacterial wipes as they were actually black with the grime. The dirty tables attract huge amounts of wasps – we saw people being stung on several occasions.
