The hotel is dated and needs refurbishing e.g. beds were falling apart, toilet door was not fitted properly. Cleaning was haphazard e.g. dirty coffee cups not removed. Staff friendliness varied. A few waiting staff were not focussed on customer srrvice and waiting times for food service in restaueants was inconsistent e.g in Flame restairant there was a 1 hour plus wait from the starters to the main course and when the main course eventually arrived ot was notvas ordered.

The hotel was beautiful, very clean, a perfect setting for an unforgettable holiday. I will definitely return.

Most of the staff were pretty miserable & had quite an attitude. Only about three staff members were friendly, including one little guy at the checkin desk, a guy at the pool who would serve people drinks while singing & dancing, & one woman who would sing in the buffet hall while cleaning. Housekeeping weren't that great, the second day they took my do not disturb sign, I asked twice for one off reception but never got it, so I ended up having to steal one from someone else's door. Had to reuse my towels as they wouldn't always provide me with fresh ones, I like having fresh towels while on holiday, save the towel re-use for when I'm at home. The bathroom jacuzzi was a nice touch however when I used it two of the jets blew out so I didn't use it after that. Back to the buffet hall the staff told me off twice while in there. Once cause I showed up in a vest & they told me to go back to my room to change, got back with a shirt on & they let me in. I was walking around & saw other men in vests, as well as women in strappy or strapless tops & hot pants, which were hardly appropriate if i couldn't wear a vest, so I did feel singled out. Another day they told me off for making a packed lunch from the buffet food to take with me to the beach. What are they going to do with all of the food people don't eat? Waste it probably so I was doing them a favour. They would also try to force glasses of water on me at each meal & would look insulted if I said no, one guy even ignored my answer & poured me a glass anyway. The beach was nice but very limited on space, I like to explore while on holiday but couldn't as there were security podiums either side of the resort's beach area & if I got too close a security guard would turn me around, so it did make things feel a bit prison like. The bartender at the beach wasn't that friendly either. Around checkout time they kept on pestering me with phone calls to my room while I was trying to get ready to leave. In all I definitely wouldn't stay here again or visit the Dominican Republic again either, the people here are quite unfriendly & their customer service is pretty shocking for a country that heavily relies on tourism for its economy.

The accommodation was lovely although I didn't realise how big the actual complex was and that you were limited to which hotel you could and couldn't go to. The room was nicely placed but each time when you arrive at a Bahia Principle they try to charge more for an upgraded room and after I thought I'd already paid enough, my room was nicely placed, quiet as requested although the bed was rather hard but was very clean. I don't believe the staff actually got to really know you, as a solo traveller each day yes each day I was asked how many people were dining, and normally I like being around the same area so that you can get to know the waiting staff but I was put at a different area almost each day. I also found although the staff were all very helpful not many actually smiled.
