on first impressions and looking through \"rose tinted glasses\" the accommodation looked great but by the evening on the day of our arrival we knew things were going to be difficult. We went for dinner and found a really limited array of food. However, how we managed to escape food poisoning I don't know! I have worked in the food industry for years and I can categorically tell you that hot food clearly HAD NOT been probed before coming out on display and was barely lukewarm, nor were there any checks done whilst so called hot food was on display for guests! I would be ashamed to serve up what they thought would pass as acceptable food. I even touched the hot plate to check hot hold could be maintained and they were not hot at all! This was clearly evident after freshly fried eggs were put in the tray on the hot plate and were actually cold to eat minutes later! Food was recycled...not just once but many meal times over, which considering they were sitting lukewarm for a few hours was a recipe for disaster! There were the same 3 variations of chocolate cake out at every meal, nothing else, but they were dry and crusty and the fruit unless very fresh, was also recycled multiple times and looked miserable and only appealed to the many fruit flies on them! I know the hotel is on skeleton staff before the end of the season but this should not affect food quality or food hygiene. Tables had been reset for diners but tables had not been wiped! I found old food on our table, drinks stains and even picked up my cutlery to eat and thankfully after noticing a stain on the napkin checked my knife and fork...only to find they were previously used and not cleared from the previous diner!!! Absolutely disgusting and I am so glad I noticed! I have been on many All inclusive holidays with TUI and have always enjoyed the hotel food and drink and eaten out occasionally as a treat and to support local. Unfortunately with this hotel, this has been the only time were we have had to eat out through necessity. I ate more chips on this holiday than ever as they were the only things guaranteed to be hot! The drinks, especially the soft drinks were cheap, overly sweet and nasty and the barman serving by the pool through the day was so miserable (then girl in the evening was friendly though). I tried a coffee at the bar and it tasted salty! Our room looked fine but the bathroom on closer inspection has a lot of black mould in the grout of the shower (I have photos), I didn't dare look down the drain in the shower to see if I could get the water to drain faster as it would be close to overflowing from the shower tray. The hinge on the bathroom door was coming away from the wall and would pop loudly back in to place upon closing (I have video), and with it being a glass door we were worried it would eventually smash. My daughter and I felt like we could not shut the door with confidence so would have to time usage carefully. Absolutely no evening entertinment. The spa was never open and as a bit of an avid gym goer I was keen to try the gym. I went once, it was filthy and one large cable station should have been condemned as pulleys were broken and cables were frayed. Gym mats were disgusting and I don't know when the last time a cleaner had stopped foot in there (photos available again). I would have complained directly to management but by all accounts on recent trip advisor reviews I am not the only one to have had bad experiences at this hotel and feel like I would have spent most of my time there complaining. As it was the first holiday my daughter had paid for herself I didn't want to taint that experience for her and just tried to make the best of the time we were spending together. Lobby area looked modern but again NOT cleaned thoroughly. (photos available) The Golden Mare signage outside claims it is a Luxury Resort, but it is far from that and I would never recommend. I think Tui needs to re-evaluate its relationship with this hotel.

Our accommodation was perfect the views were glorious and the food and drink were perfect

It was the end of the season and the staff were disinterested. Toilet bins were not changed, the bar staff when they were there were miserable and rude and we had problems with our room and despite waiting for technicians they didn’t arrive.

Wonderful hotel in an amazing location. Excellent all inclusive package. A few minor facilities issues need to be sorted (Leaks when it rains etc.) Would say what not suitable for mobility impaired guests due to the steep sided location requiring an abundance of stairs.

The first room we were given was dirty , tatty and smelt of really bad drains that was so bad I felt sick the second was better smell wise however it was very ran down and the bedding has holes and stains they didn’t get changed al all the Holliday towels were stained the hotel was very ran down and the food was cold and had flys on it
