    Recommended

    Nice clean hotel. Lots of steps around the hotel so unsuitable if you have any difficulties walking. There are lifts in the hotel but still steps to the pool and activity area. Lots to choose from for food and basic drinks but no Tia Maria or alternative which was disappointing for me....so picky!! Tables cleared quickly im the restaurant and staff were mainly very friendly. My bed was very uncomfortable so I asked for a mattress topper and it was sorted straight away. Very helpful man on reception (young with cool braces on his teeth) was so helpful with a question I had about a place we wanted to visit. He arranged a cab and even came outside to make sure we found it OK, he was so nice. Lots of places to sit around the hotel inside and out. There is also an ATM

    Nice big room, massive bed. Decent pools for swimming and sea view. Overall the hotel was very good, about 50 minute walk from Funchal which was further than we realised but there was a coach twice a day from hotel so not an issue. Some aspects are a bit run down, the sunbeds on the lower pool literally need to be thrown away, looked about 15 years old and very uncomfortable, they had newer ones on the top pool, the bathroom wasn't 5 star, in need of new grouting and the bath was very thin malleable plastic under our feet, it moved when stood in it and we were bit worried we were going to go through it so was careful but the maids were lovely and came everyday, we had a great time and we would stay again, the hotel staff work really hard, the maids and the waiting staff and cooks

    Rooms are very outdated and small. Lack of plug sockets. Boiling kettle on floor not ideal. Food choice and combinations were poor. Lovely fruit platters and desserts. No fresh ice cream just individual tubs. Sun loungers extremely uncomfortable although were plenty available throughout the day. Cost cutting in certain areas were obvious and therefore not worthy of 5 stars
