⭐️⭐️ Royalton Bávaro – Very Disappointing and Definitely Not a 5-Star Experience I honestly don’t know how this hotel can be advertised as 5-star. From the outside, the Royalton Bávaro looks impressive, but unfortunately the experience inside was more like a 2-star hotel. There were cockroaches in the corridors and rooms, which is completely unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be 5-star. Our room was dirty and was not cleaned properly. The sheets were not changed regularly, and on one occasion stained sheets were left on the bed. We also repeatedly had problems getting towels. When we phoned to request towels, it could take up to two hours for them to arrive. There were also strong sewer smells in parts of the hotel, including some of the rooms. On one day, workers came to deal with blocked pipes outside, and the contents from the blocked pipes were spread across the pathway, creating an extremely unpleasant and unhygienic situation. I have photographs of this. The air conditioning was temperamental, and the bath was in desperate need of either a proper deep clean or replacement. Lifts and maintenance The lifts were another ongoing problem. Every day, there were lifts out of order, and they were not being repaired promptly. Guests were regularly having to walk much further to find another working lift, and in some cases were having to use the stairs instead. For a large hotel claiming to be 5-star, having lifts repeatedly breaking down and remaining out of service every day is simply unacceptable, particularly for elderly guests, families, or anyone with mobility difficulties. The toilets were another major problem. We saw guests complaining because their toilets were not working properly, with some having to pour water into the toilet just to flush them. We were told that these problems had been fixed, but they clearly had not been properly resolved. Pools and safety The condition of the pools was also very disappointing. The pools appeared not to be cleaned properly, and there was visible algae in the water. We also saw children in the pool area pouring drinks into the pools and throwing food into the water, with seemingly no one intervening or telling them to stop. This was extremely concerning from a hygiene point of view. I also cannot say whether the hotel had lifeguards properly supervising the pools, as I did not see sufficient supervision and could not establish whether lifeguards were present. Even more concerning was an incident involving a young boy, who appeared to be around seven years old, who got his hand caught in a jacuzzi. The situation was serious enough that the fire brigade had to attend and cut him free. Seeing something like this was extremely upsetting and raised serious questions for me about pool and jacuzzi safety and supervision. Food, buffet and dining facilities The buffet restaurant was extremely disappointing. The buffet area looked like it hadn’t been refurbished since 1984 and is desperately in need of a complete refurbishment. It certainly did not give the impression of a modern 5-star resort. The food itself was also a major concern. A lot of the food was hard and did not feel fresh, and on several occasions the food appeared as though it had been sitting out for some time. The overall quality and freshness were nowhere near what I would expect from a 5-star all-inclusive hotel. There was also very little flavour in much of the food. We saw pork, chicken and other foods being cooked on the same grill, which is particularly concerning for people who have religious dietary requirements. The cutlery and glasses also desperately need replacing. Many of the glasses were heavily scratched, and the knives and forks were also showing significant wear. For a hotel claiming to be 5-star, the dining equipment should be clean, presentable and in good condition. The hotel needs a completely new set of glasses, knives and forks. Illness within our group This was one of the most serious concerns during our stay. I was part of a group of 11 people, and 9 out of the 11 people in our group became ill during the trip, suffering from diarrhoea and sickness. One person was so unwell that they had to be admitted to hospital. While I cannot say for certain what caused the illnesses, the fact that 9 people in our group became sick during the holiday is extremely concerning and has to be mentioned in this review. Other guests’ experiences What was perhaps most disappointing was seeing complaints from guests every single day. People were genuinely upset, and we even saw people crying because of problems with their rooms and facilities. This is not what you expect when you have paid for an expensive all-inclusive holiday. A lot of the staff also appeared very moody and unapproachable. There seemed to be an expectation of receiving tips, and some staff became visibly upset if they weren’t given one. I completely understand that staff deserve to be paid fairly, but when you have already paid a significant amount for an all-inclusive 5-star holiday, you shouldn’t feel pressured to tip simply to receive basic service. When you consider how much the hotel charges per room and how full the hotel was, it is difficult to understand why the basic standards of cleanliness, maintenance, food quality, hygiene and customer service were not being met. Final verdict I am extremely disappointed with this hotel. The hotel looks beautiful from the outside, but what matters is what guests experience inside. Cockroaches, dirty rooms, stained sheets, delayed towels, unreliable air conditioning, faulty toilets, sewer smells, blocked-pipe problems, broken lifts, an outdated buffet area, food that often did not feel fresh, scratched glasses and worn cutlery, questionable pool hygiene, poor supervision and widespread illness within our group are simply not what I expect from a hotel marketed as 5-star. I have photographs documenting some of these issues, including the condition of the blocked pipes outside. My advice to anyone considering this hotel: DON’T BOOK IT! I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. People need to stay far away from this hotel. We paid for a luxury all-inclusive 5-star holiday and unfortunately did not receive anything close to the standard we were promised. Very, very disappointed. Save your money and choose somewhere else.

Not 5*. Food really let it down. In need of refurb. Our ceiling had water leaking through which we had to get seen to twice. 2nd time when we got back to room it was a mess where the ‘handyman’ hadn’t even bothered to tidy up after himself. We had to call cleaners to come and sort ( you would expect this to be automatically done). Even though pools closed at 6, all the water features turned off at 5??? Fridge restock wasn’t automatic you had to ring daily. The app was rubbish and never really worked.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding our stay at Royalton Bavaro from 26 August to 4 September, booked under the name Naomi Cobourne.********** The hotel was advertised and presented as a 5-star property. However, the accommodation, hygiene, facilities, maintenance and customer service were substantially below the standard reasonably expected from, and paid for, at a 5-star hotel. Numbered Schedule of Issues 1. Illness and Food-Hygiene Concerns Although this booking is for two people only, there were 11 people in our group in total. All 11 members of the group experienced stomach problems, loose stools, sickness and weight loss during the stay. I Abi Leonard .. was being sick and had lose stools n have lost weight due to lack of proper food and using toilet . Which is very upsetting for me and mentally stressful , as I ensure to maintain healthy diet to maintain my weight. I Naomi cobourne became sufficiently unwell and was rushed to hospital for treatment due to severe dehydration and fatigue from diarrhoea. * Dates symptoms began: 27th * Number of people affected:11 total. But this booking was for two * Relevant meals, restaurants or food consumed: all food drinks and restaurants * Hospital/medical facility: hospiten Dominican bavaro * Date of hospital attendance:1st September * Medical diagnosis or documentation:had to have a drip, low heart rate high blood pressure * Other affected guests and evidence:Naomi cobourne These circumstances raise serious concerns about the hotel’s food-hygiene and food-safety standards. 2. Rooms and Accommodation The rooms were the worst part in an unacceptable condition for a hotel advertised as 5-star. Issues included: * Dirty or inadequately cleaned rooms. * Bedding not being changed everyday as expected. * bed bugs and bites all over legs * stains on towels and bedding * Severe condensation causing the beds to become wet and causing a musty damp smell. This has affected my chest and throat severely and have came home poorly. * Floors becoming drenched with water or condensation, causing me to slip many times & Leaving my clothes wet and smelling damp and musty. Terrible damp sweaty odure around beds due to damp * Showers and bathrooms being inadequately cleaned. * Poor maintenance, tiling and paintwork, including paint falling away. Mould on ceiling in room due to damp * Cockroaches in or around the rooms and in other areas of the hotel, Cockroaches in the food area actively seen running around the bae Marie’s where they serve the food . One went on my friends plate in the tapanyaki while she was eating , crawled from cracks on the table. * mosquitos in the room even thought keep doors and nets closed * holes in mozzi nets Details of affected room(s): * Room number(s):18203 * Dates and times observed: everydaay * Supporting photographs/videos: multiple photos and videos available for evidence 3. Corridors, Toilets and Communal Hygiene Human faeces/excrement was observed on floors in hotel corridors and toilets. This represents a serious hygiene and health-and-safety concern. * Location(s):hall way to room… toilets in the lobby and pool area * Time taken to clean the area: was there 24hours. So I threw tissue on top of it 4. Dining Areas and Furniture Tables in the dining areas appeared rotten, badly deteriorated and poorly maintained, with damaged surfaces and paint falling away. poor quality tables and chairs . Looks scruffy and cheap . 5. Swimming Pools and Children’s Pool Area The swimming-pool water, including the water around the pool-bar areas, appeared dirty and poorly maintained. Masses off chemicals are used . I did not use the pool onece during my stay The plastic glasses used around the children’s pool were extremely worn, scratched, scruffy and generally in very poor condition. This was inappropriate for an area used by children and inconsistent with the standards expected from a 5-star 6. General Maintenance and Appearance The hotel’s general condition was poor, including deteriorated décor, tiling, paintwork and other finishes. These issues were inconsistent with the hotel’s advertised 5-star status. This was more vigilant in the hotel rooms rather than main areas . The front entrance is falling apart , the sitting area near our room was severely deteriorated to the point can’t walk on it as looks and feels as it’s going to drop . The wood was bending when stood on it 7. Customer Service and Complaint Handling Some staff members were rude, dismissive or unhelpful when we raised legitimate concerns. They was not welcoming and looked angry , this refers to the female staff towards female persons in my group . Not all was like this but we experienced it a lot l. Complaints were not dealt with efficiently, and promised action was either not taken or was delayed and had to be asked more than once . Impact and Requested Resolution This was not a series of minor or isolated inconveniences. The issues involved illness, possible food-hygiene concerns, health concerns , dirty accommodation, wet bedding and floors, inadequate bathroom cleaning, cockroaches, human waste in corridors and toilets, dirty pool water, worn children’s pool glasses, deteriorated dining furniture, peeling paint, poor maintenance and inadequate complaint handling. All 11 members of our group became unwell, and I required hospital treatment. The holiday was significantly disrupted and was not provided to the standard advertised or reasonably expected. Because off our experience I would never come back to Dominican again , I expect high levels off hygiene for hotel rooms and food as a standard . They need investigating to food hygiene end pest control I therefore request a full refund of the holiday/accommodation cost. I also reserve the right to seek reimbursement for reasonable additional losses arising from these issues, including hospital and medical expenses, medication, transport and other related costs. Supporting evidence available includes: * Photographs and videos of the rooms and bathrooms. * Evidence of wet bedding and floors caused by condensation. * Photographs/videos of cockroaches. * Evidence concerning the swimming-pool water * Photographs of deteriorated dining tables. * Evidence of peeling paint mould , poor tiling and general maintenance. * Hospital attendance records and medical documentation. * Witness stat * lengthy complaint made to staff , and noticed over 200 complaints letter waiting to be filed In conclusion this has to be the worse hotel iv been . It has caused me health issues , fatigue and weight loss. Due to this experience i won’t be visiting Dominican Republic again . I am traumatised and I am very disappointed with TUI for supporting this hotel as a 5 star hotel.. we have all supporting evidence to send when required please let me know where to send this too Please investigate this complaint thoroughly and escalate it to senior management and the relevant quality-assurance, health-and-safety and food-hygiene departments. Please provide a written response within 14 days of receiving this complaint, confirming how you intend to resolve the matter and, in particular when you will provide the requested full refund. Yours faithfully, Naomi cobourne & Abi Leonard ********** Royalton bavaro - Dominican Republic 26th-4september 2026 TUI **********
